Privacy Policy – Terms and Conditions
Nolan Lim Law
Last updated: May 22, 2026
We’re not fans of confusing legal-speak, so here’s a plain-English explanation of what information we collect on this site, how we use it, and what your options are. The short version: we don’t sell your data, we don’t spam you, and we only collect what we actually need.
That said, this policy does need to cover some legal bases — so if you’re visiting from California or the EU, there’s specific info for you toward the bottom.
- Who We Are
We’re Nolan Lim Law, a law firm with a website at https://nolanlimlaw.com. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, feel free to reach out through the contact info at the bottom of this page.
- What We Collect
Contact Form Messages
When you reach out through our contact form, we collect your name, email, and whatever you write to us. We use that only to respond to you — nothing else.
One important heads-up: sending us a message through the contact form doesn’t start an attorney-client relationship. Please don’t include sensitive legal details in your message until we’ve officially agreed to work together.
Text Messages
By opting into SMS from a web form or other medium, you are agreeing to receive SMS messages from Nolan Lim Law Firm, PS. This includes SMS messages for conversations (external). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. See privacy policy at https://nolanlimlaw.com/privacy-policy/. Message HELP for help. Reply STOP to any message to opt out.

Images
If images are uploaded to the site, we’d recommend stripping out any location data (EXIF GPS) beforehand, since visitors can technically download images and extract that info.
Cookies
Cookies are small files saved to your browser. Here’s what we use them for:
- Comment convenience: If you leave a comment, you can opt in to saving your name, email, and website so you don’t have to retype them next time. These stick around for a year.
- Browser check: When you visit our login page, we drop a temporary cookie just to see if your browser accepts cookies. It has no personal info and disappears when you close the browser.
- Login sessions: When you log in, we save a few cookies to keep you logged in and remember your display settings. Login cookies last two days (or two weeks if you check “Remember Me”). Screen settings cookies last a year. They’re cleared when you log out.
- Post editing: If you edit or publish something on the site, a cookie is saved with the ID of that post. No personal info, gone after one day.
- Analytics: We may use tools like Google Analytics to understand how people use the site. These tools use their own cookies and collect anonymized data. You can opt out at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Embedded Content
Some pages may include embedded content like videos or social posts from other sites. When that happens, those sites behave as if you’ve visited them directly — they may collect data, set their own cookies, and track your interaction, especially if you’re already logged in to those platforms.
Technical Info We Automatically Collect
Like most websites, ours automatically logs some basic technical details when you visit:
- Your IP address and rough location
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- How you got here (referring pages)
- Pages visited and time of visit
This helps us keep the site running smoothly and catch any security issues. We don’t use it to identify you personally.
- How We Use Your Info
Here’s what we actually do with the data we collect:
- Reply to your messages and inquiries
- Keep the website working properly
- Catch spam and prevent abuse
- Understand how people use the site so we can improve it
- Meet any legal requirements we’re subject to
That’s it. We don’t sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers.
- A Note for EU Visitors (GDPR)
If you’re in the European Economic Area, we’re required to tell you the legal basis for processing your data. Here’s how that breaks down:
- Consent — when you’ve actively opted in (like saving comment cookies)
- Legitimate interests — for things like spam filtering, security, and basic analytics
- Legal obligation — when we’re required by law to keep certain records
You can withdraw your consent at any time. That won’t affect anything we’ve already done, but we’ll stop going forward.
- Who We Share Your Data With
We don’t sell your information. The only people who see your data are:
- Our hosting and tech providers — they help run the website and are contractually required to protect your data.
- Gravatar (Automattic) — only a hashed email, just to check if you have a profile picture.
- Spam detection services — comments may be run through an automated filter.
- Password reset emails — your IP address is included when you request a reset.
- Law enforcement or courts — only if we’re legally required to share something.
- How Long We Keep Your Data
- Comments: Kept indefinitely so we can recognize and auto-approve follow-up comments.
- Contact form messages: Kept long enough to handle your inquiry, then deleted (unless there’s a legal reason to keep them longer).
- Account info: If you have a user account, your info stays in your profile until you delete it. You can view, edit, or delete your info anytime. Website admins can also access it.
- Analytics: Anonymized data may stick around; individual-level data follows the retention policies of whichever tool collected it.
- Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights:
- Access — ask us what data we have on you
- Correction — ask us to fix anything that’s wrong
- Deletion — ask us to erase your data (subject to any legal holds)
- Portability — ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Objection — push back on processing we’re doing based on our own interests
- Withdraw consent — opt out of anything you previously agreed to
California residents also have CCPA rights: you can ask what we’ve collected, confirm we’re not selling it (we’re not), and we can’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
To make any of these requests, just reach out using the contact info at the bottom of this page.
- Security
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe — but no website can promise 100% security. If you have concerns, feel free to reach out.
- Kids’ Privacy
This site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their info. If you think a child has submitted data through our site, let us know and we’ll delete it.
- Links to Other Sites
We might link to other websites from time to time. Once you leave our site, this policy doesn’t apply — check those sites’ own privacy policies.
- Where Your Data Is Sent
Our website is based in the United States. If you’re visiting from elsewhere, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may be different from your home country. For EU visitors, we rely on appropriate safeguards (like Standard Contractual Clauses) for any international transfers.
- Updates to This Policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes — new tools, new laws, whatever comes up. The date at the top always reflects the latest version.
- Questions?
If anything here is unclear, or you want to make a request about your data, reach out:
